IMPORTANT – Before submitting a domain name transfer, check the following:
1. Check whois the domain name's administrative contact and make sure you have access to the admin contact email account because a
transfer authorization email will be sent to the admin contact email account. Check whois the domain name's administrative contact
by performing a whois search here!
*Note: If you are not the administrative contact, notify the administrative contact and make them aware of the email that they will
be required to authorize. If the admin contact information is incorrect, contact the current domain registrar to update the admin
contact information and then submit the domain transfer.
2. Check to see if the domain name has been UN-LOCKED for transfer. Contact the current domain registrar to UN-LOCK the domain name
for transfer and then submit the domain transfer.
3. Check the domain name's expiration date. If the domain name is expired, the domain name is placed on registry HOLD and cannot be
transferred until the domain name is renewed with the current domain registrar for at least one year.
4. Check to see that the domain name has been registered for more then 60 days. If 60 days have not elapsed since the initial
registration date of the domain name, the domain name is placed on registry HOLD and cannot be transferred until 60 days has elapsed
since the initial registration date.
5. If the domain name is a .com, .net, .org, .info or .biz domain, an authorization code is required when submitting the domain for
transfer. The authorization code for transfer must be requested from the current domain registrar. |

Transfer Domains - FAQ
1. How long will it take for my domain name transfer(s) to be processed?
The switch from your current registrar to TJ-Hosting can take a standard of up to 7 business days. Once you submit the domain name you
are transferring, TJ-Hosting will send an e-mail message to the Administrative Contact listed to request authorization for the
registrar transfer. The Administrative Contact then has to authorize the transfer by responding to the e-mail message within 3 days.
Once the Administrative Contact authorizes the registrar transfer it can take up to 7 business days to process the request. If the
Administrative Contact does not authorize the registrar transfer request or doesn’t respond to the e-mail within 3 days, your transfer
request is then cancelled.
2. Can I submit more than one domain name for transfer at the same time?
Yes, you can submit multiple domain names for transfer at the same time.
3. Can I transfer my domain name if it has already expired?
No, once your domain name has expired, most registrars put a hold on your domain name and allow at least a 30 day grace period for you to
renew it. It is best to initiate a domain name transfer before your domain name expires.
4. How do I find out about the status of my transfer?
We will contact you if your transfer has been cancelled because the Administrative Contact did not authorize the transfer e-mail, if
transfer is denied by your current registrar, or once the transfer has been successfully completed. If TJ-Hosting has not notified you
within 7 business days from the day you submitted your domain name transfer, contact us.
5. Will my web site go down if I transfer domain name registrars?
NO, your web site will not go down or be affected during the transfer process. Your hosting information and DNS settings will not change.
6. Why did my current registrar deny the domain name transfer?
There are several reasons why your current registrar has denied the domain name transfer and here are the most common reasons:
The domain name was registered with your current registrar less than 60 days ago. The rule is you can only transfer a domain name that
has been registered for more than 60 days.
The domain name has already expired. If the domain name has already expired we suggest you renew it immediately with your current registrar.
The domain name may be expiring in less than 30 days. Some registrars have a rule that they will not authorize transfers within 30 days of
expiry which means you need to renew your domain with your current registrar. We suggest you transfer your domain names at least 30 days
from expiration.
*Note: If your transfer has been denied by your current registrar and you have to renew it with your current registrar you can still switch
to TJ-Hosting after. You need to re-submit your domain name transfer and once the transfer is processed the time you have left with your
current registrar will carry over, meaning TJ-Hosting will add one additional year to the balance of your current registration term. |
